I would be most grateful for any comments on the look, feel and functionality of my new site DubaiDesk. There is still rather more bones than meat on the site when it comes to content but enough I think to get some useful feedback.

I have quite consciously chosen not to design for 800 x 600 screens - my experience with my other sites suggests that the number of visitors using such low screen resoultions is far too small to warrant compromising site design to cater for their needs. Nevertheless I have taken some measures to ensure that the site is still useable, though ugly, on a 800 x 600 screen.

A known issue - I have found that the IE8 beta does not yet understand opacity.  Perhaps it will do after it grows up a bit more or else a fix will have to be found.

First of all, your site is not valid.
You should check your code over at w3c if you’re not good at validating code yourself while creating a site, your css is not even valid. Your code really is a mess.

As for the design, i don’;t know what to say, first of all your content is in the form of an image, which in turn serves as a BG image for your text, which is simply awful. Consider downloading a free css template, or otherwise, from the net and playing around with one. Honestly I believe that would do your site more justice.

Good luck either way.

I am not sure about the design, think that it looks a bit basic and I don’t like the menu.  Realistically you could have a lot of the content on the same page and make it less distracting with a plain background image.
