Hi ! I like the general idea but I have a few observations:
1.Maybe you should try an “unfeathered” header, you already have a shaddow and it just doesn;t fit quite well.
2.What about creating a bit of contrast between the background of the page and the centered column?
3.Maybe another color for the logo? The dark green that tou have now doesn’t really stand out.
4.You might also want to drop the leaf underneath the menu , try to use a simpler effect.

Ither then that as I said I like the general idea and the color scheme , and I believe that with a couple of tweaks you can make this a nice site.

Hi there Ryan! I do agree that this is a great start to a site. I also agree with awholeuniverse in regards to the small tweaks that could be made to the site. I think you definitely should harden that line around the header image and add a nice shadow to it, or possibly a white stroke with a darker blur behind the image to make the white stroke stand out (just a thought to play around with—may or may not look good). Next, I would spread out the navigation so that when you go to a page, the leaf doesn’t push the others over. Maybe tilt the leaf at an angle as well and move the higher end of it closer to the end of the word/nav.  As for the contrast that was suggested, maybe you could use the green that is the background of your form fields as a background-color to highlight your column on the right-hand side a little more.

This site is off to a great start! Keep it up and you’re sure to score some more things for your portfolio page :)

Thanks for the remarks guys! I will take on your advice and try something out with header. I don’t know if you have checked it recently, but I have added a subtle rounded shadow border for the main content area, just to distinguish the main content from the side bar.

Cheers,
AhrJay

Hello AhrJay,
I love your web site.  Great Job!
How do you do the part of your portfolio that displays a larger image of your work piece and makes the background fade away and bring up a new window with your portfolio piece?  Is it flash?  where can i learn about doing something like that on my web site?  I also design web sites.

Thank you and again, great job on the page.

Wow this color scheme is really .... strange. My eyes are still blurred.
I think the colors are too bright.  Don’t get me wrong I like the layout and the basic idea but you have to think about the color combination.
