Hi folks,
Just stumbled onto this site last night… this is cool to see all of the CSS designs/redesigns! Here are a couple to check out…

My own site-
Jacksonville Web Design TenTonWeb.com

A site I just made for my wife (still adding content to both)-
Mary Kay

Both of these are XHTML 1.0 and CSS validated - as well as 508/AAA compliant (validated back when Bobby was online).

Thanks a lot!

Hello, your sites look very professional with a good color.  One thing I saw, however, on both sites was that all or almost all of the content is on one page.  You may change that when you get more content, but that’s just what I notice with them, in that it is just too long of a page.  Anyway, looks pretty good!

Your site is nice and clean.  Good job.  Maybe the content is kinda long.  Seems some good info is way at the bottom.

Thanks a lot Webmaster Pete!

Hey this really doesn’t belong in this category, but I feel the need to post this… I have lately run into sites blatanty copying my content to try to increase their search engine rankings… which we all know is a NO NO and TOTALLY BOGUS. The last one was a web design outfit so close that I HAND DELIVERED a cease and desist notice! They had copied my entire home page and stuck it in hidden H5 tags on 17 pages of their site! Man I have to say the looks on their faces was worth doing it in person! Anyway… it’s not the be all end all but it’s a good starting point, this site is called CopyScape http://copyscape.com/. Put your url in there and submit to see if someone has ripped off your content. I have found that you may have to run it like 3 times to get all of the results.

If you found that your site has been copied… you can submit a complaint to the search engines much like Google’s DMCA page [Digital Millenium Copyright Act] at http://www.google.com/dmca.html. MSN and Yahoo have like pages as well. This will get the offender blacklisted in the search engines.

This is just the most bogus thing to find that your content has been copied… especially when the offenders are local and competing with you. If you find it, act on it! There are in depth instructions on steps to take at http://www.bruceclay.com/ethics/webthief.htm. He has a great site full of good info.

Thanks a lot - know it’s not CSS related but well worth knowing if you have your own site that you work hard at building and promoting.

Thank you,
Jim Summer

Jim.

Good work, buddy!
I’m sending you an email (from Jacksonville, NC to Jacksonville, FL).

Lel,
Good designers produce the green light (Ffox plugin htmlTiDY validator). Jim’s work produces the green light.
That speaks 132% for Mr. Jim without Jim saying a single word about his professionalism.

Kind regards,
Al Toman

I like yours and the site you’re working on for your friend.  Really nice and professional.  As for the other 2, they’re kinda blocky looking, but other than that, still really good.  Good Work.

Lel,

Thank you for the open discussion in web design.  It is a topic of much interest to me.

Firstly, Peter is the guy you call to receive professional and personable computer service (in Oklahoma).  Peter is not espousing to be a professional web designer.  You can obtain this information simply by reading Pete’s web site.  Peter probably does well because he does his profession well.

Mr. Tim Berners-Lee provided us all with the W.W.W. platform to disseminate information and that’s exactly what Pete’s web site does (as does Jim’s).  Mr. Tim Berners-Lee also chairs the W3C.  Therefore, it is assessed that the W.W.W. is intended to be used appropriately.  More than 99% of W.W.W. users (especially so-called professional web designers and SEO) abuse the works and efforts of Mr. Berners-Lee.  Probably because the W.W.W. was freely given to us!?! Give people something for free and they WILL trash it!

Secondly, Pete only needs to ALT TAG his LOGO image for his home page to GREEN LIGHT.  Observation and experience tells me that Peter is more professional at web design than 99% of so-called professional web designers.

(( Also, Pete should jingle me regarding his MAILTO TAG and php contact form~!  Yikes~! ))

Lel, I am not sure what you are trying to say with these example web sites:

Beautifully-webdesign.net itself is professionally scripted, however, all the web sites (that I reviewed) which it showcases are anywhere from BAD to WORSE.  Holy Cow, Batman!

eCreative itself sports 8 errors and 635 warnings.  Personally, I wouldn’t even bother looking any further.  It’s a showcase of unprofessional web design.

There is a distinct difference between GRAPHIC DESIGN and WEB DESIGN.  Graphic design is only 1 component of web design.  That’s obvious, yes?

A professional graphic designer needs to learn the profession of web design if that is what they want to do, as does a web designer need to learn graphic design.

Follow web standards and good design practices,
Al Toman
