Please note that I’ve decided to disable forum signatures until I can come up with a better system. It’s become a magnet for spammers to sign up just to make a couple of posts- some seemingly legit- to spam their sig.

With sigs removed, it also helps me to identify which posts are legit and which aren’t, since without a sig, the spammer is forced to post the spam link in the post itself. Be warned, that will get you banned.

Requiring a minimum number of posts for the sig and rel=nofollowing links in the post until that threshold it hit would probably help.

I’ve reported tons of spam lately so going that route might help.  Even starting it at 5 or 10 would likely do the trick.

Yup, user levels work fine. Alas, manual reviewing is still necessary :(

I think its a good decision considering all the spam being tossed around the web.  You should incorporate some kind of total # of posts system for members to be able promote their sites in signatures.

The only sig I see is for the user Zarina, which he/she manually typed within the post :D

Anyways, this is a 2 years old thread, wondering if the site webmaster have found a solution to the signature thingie yet or not

Good idea, spam is definitely an issue on the forum, so turning of sigs for newbies (such as me) helps!

This is right decision to tackle spammer.otherwise there will be flood of such thing.
