Hi, all…
My site was started as a mix of HTML, CSS, and Javascript—with HTML being the majority of the coding. It still is really… but I’ve been interested in making the layout CSS with a touch HTML and Javascript thrown in for extra umph.
One site I’ve been trying out on my site, which is seen on the PENNYWISE memorial page, is “www.mandarindesign.com” with their magazine style CSS codes. Then I got to this site and “Dynamic Drive” as well and thought, maybe I should get feedback from other site builders.
History on *me* is that I had to do a site for a grade in High School (that was back in 1995 or 96!!), then was re-introduced to website creation just last year in college. It was basic HTML he taught us, just for an intro, then he moved on—but I took the codes and ran with them. I went onto the net and looked up “html +codes” and found *so* much that I just started adding to the ‘no tables’ layout - and fell in love. I kept trying to think of a good topic to have a site about, and then create it while learning HTML, and all the other types of codes.
Well, long story short (too late, I know) I have my fan site for Ben Heller (young “Stan” in the movie Stephen King’s IT).
http://www.unofficialbenhellerfansite.com/bhhome.html The UnOfficial Ben Heller Fan Site </a> is extremely basic, and non-CSS in a layout kind of way (save for mouse trails and colored tracks, that’s it) - so be gentle. But I *do* want to know what others think to see where I should go with the site. I love all the backgrounds (backsplashes I call them) for each page, so I know the site doesn’t have a uniform look—that I can admit… but although I’m attached to my personally created backsplashes, I do want a more sleek, pro-look at the same time.
*Please* check out every page and let me know where layouts could look better, colors don’t mesh well, etc. and where I went wrong completely… Then give some insight on what a good way to go would be for me - based on the fact that I would love it to be CSS but with banners, buttons, and backdrops created from pictures from the movie of the actor so that it’s very centered around the film/actor.
Thank you all so very much, :)

I really don’t see a point in hiding the menu and explaining to the visitor where he can find it…. This is your main navigation. You have to be able to see it right away.

I didn’t think it was too big a deal since I have the navigation on the “index page” also along the bottom of the page… I only explained it to people because this is my second ‘edition’ of the site, which didn’t have navigation on a pull out menu so - they’d have been a bit confused if I didn’t tell them… or well so I thought…

but nice point. my thing is i thought the pull out menu looked a bit more sleek, nice, and professional since it’s not just simple “HTML”.... i *am* however thinking of making it stick out more so as to attract more attention :)

thank you….
