The short answer would be: you need to know how to do everything described in a contract or job proposal. The long answer (which is ironically shorter than the short answer) would be: everything under the sun.
There’s some comfort in knowing that almost all freelancers do a little learning on the job. It’s inevitable, in fact.
Good answer. if you’re not learning - you’re not paying attention so agreed, you’ll learn on the job. in fact - no matter how experienced you get you’ll keep learning on the job. :) As long as you can do what you say you can and get the job done you promised - you can freelance. no need to be an expert in ASP if your contract is for a static 5 page HTML site.
