Which Language is good for Web designing |

Hi friends,
I an student of engineering field.I am just confuse about the language selection for web designing programming.Please suggest me that which language should i choose??
I have two options in my mind,and they are “Java or .Net”....
Which should i select??If you have any other better option then please suggest it too.

Web design is done in (X)HTML and CSS. How the website behaves is PHP, Javascript, and ASP.

We are using php in our site its very easy to do anything.

XHTML and CSS for the designing purpose and well for the website you can use Asp.net or PHP

Yes. It all depends on your requirements. PHP and HTML are fine for static and basic websites.

I think looking into python or perl would be a good investment and yes JavaScript works wonders.Also it looks like there is a demand for action script programmers

In web designing I prefer php and css. It think these are the best languages to use in designing .
However it all depends in our own capacity and capability.
I think whatever language it is as long as you know how to do it. That make sense.
