Better titled, “an abusive use of :hover in creating a menu effect.”

Who the hell has time to make custom multi-state graphics for EVERY hover selection possible of a menu?

The better solution would be to have a translucent png (with the appropriate png behaviours for IE6) OVERLAYING the other items which would be plain text, not custom graphics!

Imagine having a multi-lingual site with the author’s approach :(
