ok.. I have to call BULLSHIT on this one.
This is as close to a “Survival Guide” as finding a note that says “Drink lots of water” in the middle of the Sahara Desert in July is.
A list of “Client types” with no clear clues as to how to recognize them DOES NOT AN ARTICLE MAKE! Much of the three or so pages of blather is mostly fluff but there is a little meat at the end. Overall, I’d rate it a C- or probably a D since you dont really gain much by reading it and there is too much useless stuff you have to wade through.
Would benefit from some conciseness.
If it added some tips to SPECIFICALLY deal with some of the many troublesome client types it would merit almost an ‘A” and would be closer to a ‘Survival Guide’ (note: Saying, “do not die” NOT EQUAL “Survival Guide”)
Article summary: (to save you some time)
Some clients suck: There are many ways that they suck.
Make clear rules for client interaction and STICK TO THEM.
Dont avoid or Confront troublesome clients but ENGAGE THEM.
Make them feel like they and their project are the most important thing you have going on. Remember, a demanding client that evokes the best from you is a good thing!
Well I actually find it quite funny and interesting. I’ve ran into all those categories and tips are pretty useful. Now what’s the source of your frustration Mark- difficult client today?
umm…... errr…..
